“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9, NIV).
We all face hardship and temporary setbacks at times in both our personal and professional lives. God’s Word tells us that trials and temptations will come. In spite of this fact, this verse encourages me. I am comforted to know that even though I may face hardship and pressure from every side and feel like I am being squeezed in a vise, I will not be crushed. I am reassured that whenever I experience difficult situations, when people all around me are out of control and things do not make sense, I will not be perplexed or feel despair. When others refuse to step up and carry their load or fail to honor a promise or commitment, I will not feel alone or abandoned. Whenever I encounter “Goliath-sized” problems or issues and experience a temporary setback or I am ambushed by unforeseen adversaries, I am not defeated or destroyed. When Satan attacks me with every weapon in his arsenal, I may be wounded but I will not give up. I may grow tired and weary but I will not cave in. I may not feel like going on but I will not turn my back on God and quit.
As a son of the Most High God, I know that nothing can stop me. I cannot lose as long as I walk in the love of God. As a child of Light, I will not be controlled or manipulated by forces of darkness. I will bring the light of Christ into a dark world. As a spiritual descendent of Abraham, I will pursue and take hold of every promise made to me by God. I know that I never travel alone. The Holy Spirit and guardian angels are with me. I always travel armed and ready with God’s Word and refuse to back down from a fight. When spiritual warfare comes, I take up my sword of faith and run to battle in my efforts to conquer Satan. My motto is, “Greater is He who lives within me than he who is in the world.” Satan, today I am putting you and every demonic spirit on notice. I am coming after you. Get ready for a fight. I know that the victory is mine. The outcome has already been decided. I find courage and refuse to walk in fear knowing that you may knock me down, but I am NEVER out.
Lord, thank you for your love, mercy and grace. Jesus, your sacrifice on the cross settled the battle with Satan for all time. Satan, with Jesus Christ in me you lose. I will not give up, cave in or quit on God no matter what. Through the blood of Jesus and in the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
